Abstract

Serat Tripama written by KGPAA Mangkunagara IV contains teachings that are still relevant to be applied today. This study aims to uncover the moral teachings contained in Serat Tripama collected in Museum Sonobudoyo. Data in the forms of verbal expressions representing moral values were collected from the transliteration version of Serat Tripama by a note taking method. The analysis and the findings of the study were conducted and presented qualitatively. The results suggest that Serat Tripama contains very good moral teachings as a means of student character education. Several good characters found in the text are; (1) obedient to orders, (2) willing to sacrifice body and soul, (3) willing to defend truth and justice, (4) willing to love motherland and nation, (5) willing to give good response to a good deed.
